Daniel (Dan) is a native of Illinois and arrived at St. John's Westwood as our Director of Music in August 2023. He is also a degree candidate for a Doctor of Musical Arts in conducting at Boston University, where he studies with Dr. Daniel Parsley. While in this position, Dan organized several concerts that showcased talent both within and outside of the parish communities, including a performance of Handel’s Messiah with the Louisville Chamber Choir and the Louisville Orchestra.

Earlier in 2023, Dan completed a Master of Music in conducting at the Eastman School of Music, where he studied conducting with Dr. William Weinert and organ with Aaron Tan. An avid choral musician, he has sung with and co-conducted numerous professional and semi-professional choirs, including his most recent appearance earlier this summer with the Festival Chorus at the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, SC. Dan has also served as a supply organist or pianist for churches across denominations in every community in which he has lived, which span five states. Dan also holds a M.Div. from Yale and a B.A. in religious studies from Monmouth College.

Dan lives in Braintree with his wife, the Rev. Rachel Reid, a Presbyterian minister and hospice chaplain, and their four-year-old calico cat, Rosie.
