Chris A. Beukman
Archdeacon
Christiaan (Chris) Beukman has been Archdeacon for Deployment and Pastoral Care in the Diocese of Massachusetts since 2019. His ministry for the Diocese involves coordinating site placements for deacons' ministries, including preparing sites for diaconal ministry, letters of agreement, and overseeing other site issues. He has also served as the deacon for St. John's Westwood since autumn 2019.
Â
Chris is a native of the Netherlands and moved to the Boston area in 1981 after meeting his wife, Lucy, in Jerusalem. He attended Harvard Divinity School and Andover-Newton Theological School, and was the Protestant chaplain and diversity specialist at Carney Hospital in Dorchester for 14 years. In 2004, he became the pastoral ministries manager at Linden Ponds Retirement Community in Hingham. He was ordained a deacon in 2009 and has served at parishes in Quincy, Walpole, Franklin, and now, of course, in Westwood.
Â
He loves travel and adventure, riding his bike and playing the recorder. Chris and Lucy have been married for almost 40 years and have two adult children, Jonah and Rebecca.Â
